Light on Water By: Jessica M. Moonflower I lit a candle today and placed it on a small boat. I took it out to the beach where the wind smelled of sea air And the tide crashed onto the surf The gentle lapping waves sang a sweet lullaby to the sleeping sea gulls Riding the calm waters. I placed my little boat on the water where the foaming waves Suddenly picked it up as if it were a fragile object And drifted it out to sea. I watched as the single flickering flame on the boat Drift further out of sight A mere light on water making a tranquil journey. I looked up at the starless sky to see a glowing moon overhead The blue sea bathed in ethereal light. I smiled up at the sky, said a little prayer to my grandmother and grandfather, And hoped they would find my little boat of light The symbol of my love and well wishes to them up in heaven.
