Nick called out as he entered the prince's empty bedroom. Looking around the room, he noticed that one of the doors that lead to the balcony was halfway open, long royal blue curtains flapping in the wind. "Your highness, are you out there?" he curiously inquired, pulling back the curtains and reaching for the door. "Nick, is that you?" a soft husky voice questioned from outside. "Yes, your highness," Nick answered, facing the back of a tall, ebony haired man who was dressed in black. The man was leaning on the balcony's ledge with his elbows propped on it as his upturned face gazed up at the glowing full moon. He noticed that the prince was not in his usual attire and that baffled him greatly. "Why are you dressed up in your gypsy costume?" Nick walked closer to him until he was beside him, looking out onto the crashing waves of the surf beyond the horizon. The moon's ethereal white light was reflected on the water's smooth surface. "I want to see my Moon Bunny tonight," the prince replied in a far away tone, turning to face his friend. "But first, tell me about the meeting you had with her." "Couldn't stop talking about her magnificent Gypsy Prince," Nick commented good naturedly, giving the love sick prince a smile and a slap on the back. "Oh really?" He grinned, intrigued by how his Moon Princess was falling fast for him. "Then, my Bunny wouldn't mind if I sneaked into her bedroom tonight." "What?!" bellowed Nick, stunned by his friend's crazy idea. "Your highness, I don't think that is such a good...idea." He fiddled around with his hands nervously. "And why not?" demanded the prince, giving him a narrow look. "Well, Serena might not like the idea of you sneaking around in her bedroom at this time of the night," he confidently pointed out, trying to convince the stubborn prince that it was wrong to do such a thing. Giving him a huge goofy grin, the prince remarked, "I don't think think she will get angry at me, but feel delighted." "How do you know that?" challenged Nick, raising his eyebrows as he crossed his arms over his chest with his back leaning against the ledge. "Because my heart tells me otherwise," he informed happily as he adjusted his cape and mask. "But your highness, think about her reputation," protested Nick in a steadfast tone. "My dear friend, don't worry about anything. No one is going to see me enter my Bunny's room or leave it." Looking back at the silvery moon, he uttered softly, "All I want to do is look upon her beautiful face again and hear that gentle lilting voice speak to me once more." ~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@ "Serena, get some sleep," advised Queen Serenity calmly. "We will talk about your marriage to the Earth Prince tomorrow. "But Mother!" whined Serena, stamping her foot impatiently. "That is my point! I do not want to marry him because I don't love HIM!" "Serena," she warned her in a stoic tone, her calm expression was now replaced with aggravation. "I will not have you disrespect me in this manner. Go to your room! You will marry the prince as planned, therefore, closing this discussion. Now good night!" Knowing that she couldn't change her mother's mind, Serena dashed out of the throne room and upstairs to her room, swiftly opening her bedroom door and shutting it behind her with a loud bang. She threw herself on her full size bed, tears pricking her eyes. "How can I marry the Earth Prince when I already love another?" sobbed Serena onto her pillow, her tears wetting the silky material. "And who is this man you love?" asked a soothing feminine voice. "AHHHH!" shouted out Serena, surprised by the unexpected intruder. "Serena, stop your shouting. It is me, Luna," huffed an irritated black cat, coming out from behind a chair and jumping onto the bed. "Luna, never do that again, do you hear me?" she angrily commanded, glaring daggers at her royal advisor for scaring her half to death. Rolling her eyes and letting out a deep breath, Luna answered, "I hear you--but Serena, if you don't want anything entering your room unexpected, close the door." "Okay Luna," she replied in an exasperated sigh, crossing her arms. "I don't want to sound rude, but I would really love for you to leave me alone so I can get my rest." "Very well." Luna gave in with a sigh. "But first, tell me of the man you said you are in love with." Princess Serena gave a little cry of alarm and began to laugh nervously at her implications. "Don't be silly, Luna! I don't love...no one. Remember, I have to marry the Earth Prince." She finished off with a dismal sigh. Shaking her head in dismay, Luna gave the princess a soft, sad smile. "Serena, the prince might not be that bad. I am sure when you meet him, you will find that the two of you have a lot in common." Jumping off her bed, Luna turned to face her one last time with an optimistic look on her face. "Good night, princess. Tomorrow is another day that will be filled with joys and surprises." "Good night, Luna," Serena bid her farewell, hopping off her bed to lock her bedroom door when the cat strolled out of the room. Resting her back against the door, Serena murmured, "The Earth Prince may be a handsome and terrific gentleman, but that doesn't matter because I do not want to marry him!" Releasing a long, frustrated sigh, she walked over to her balcony doors. Opening both doors hastily, a gush of cool wind blew onto her face as she stepped out into the majestic night. "Oh my beloved, if only you were here with me..." But her words were cut short as a gentle hand reached suddenly from behind her and clamped it firmly over her mouth while another seized her around the waist. Terrified by the unseen intruder, she fought her attacker, biting and kicking as hard as she could. "Bunny, calm down, it's me. I am sorry that I startled you," a familiar voice whispered softly into her ear, instantly halting her struggle and curiously looking over her shoulder to see who it was. The Gypsy Prince smiled down at her, his face shadowed by the galaxy night, but his eyes glowing brightly like two sapphires in the dark. "Do you think you can settle down if I take my hand away?" he teased softly, his midnight eyes dancing with merriment. Serena nodded dazedly and he lowered his hand from her mouth. Eying him closely, she carefully inquired, "Why have you come?" "Moon Bunny, I just had to see you again." Moving away from the prince's warm embrace to the other side of the balcony, she looked down at her hands, her eyes downcast and heart broken. "I am to be married to the Earth Prince." "Do you want to marry him?" he eyed her warily, trying to study her expression. Turning around to gaze into her Gypsy Prince's beautiful midnight blue eyes, she replied, "No." Then cried out, "I haven't met him yet! But...I...um...I know we just...met not too...long ago--but there... is something....about you that...makes me feel...whole." Looking at Serena's flushed face, the Gypsy Prince smiled and reassured her by carefully sauntering over to her and wrapping her close to him in a fierce embrace. "I feel the same way, my beautiful Moon Bunny." Throwing her arms around the Prince, she tearfully exclaimed, "What am I to do?! I am to be married to another man!" "I love you," the Gypsy Prince replied adamantly, kissing her tears away. "And I swear that if I have to move the stars and the planets of this galaxy to do so, you will belong to me and we'll be together and happy forever." It was impossible to answer, and as she stood looking at him, pouring out her love without words, the prince bent down near her ear once more to whisper, "Bunny, can I kiss you?" Stunned by his question, Serena just nodded absently. For a moment, he looked down at her as if he must imprint the image of her beauty in his mind for fear of forgetting it, then his lips were on hers instantly. There was nothing else to be said that mattered to them, but only each other and the love they shared. They broke from the kiss, flushed and breathless but very content to be in each other's arms. Serena laid her head on his chest and listened to the gentle hum of his heartbeat. She wanted to stay in this position forever, but knew that was not to be. Sighing, she looked up at him and brushed a few of his bangs back lightly causing the prince to capture her hand in his and kiss it with his lips. "You know, you never did tell me where you came from..." Serena trailed off as she caressed his cheek. "Can you please tell me what planet you are from?" It was a simple question, but the prince knew he couldn't reveal that information--not just yet anyhow. He ran his fingers through her silky hair as he looked down at her sadly and apologetically. "I'm sorry, Bunny, but I'm afraid I'm not allowed to reveal such information for the time being." "Not even your name?" she asked pleadingly, almost desperately. He shook his head sorrowfully. She broke their embrace to the Gypsy Prince's disappointment and watched her walk towards the balcony ledge and look up at the Earth. She sighed despondently as she closed her eyes, her hands resting on the cool railing. "Then...will I ever see you again?" He came up from behind her and turned her slightly to face him. The prince traced a small pattern on her face and kissed the top of her forehead lovingly. "Of course I'll come back. I love you too much to stay away from you. I promise to visit you every afternoon when you take your daily stroll into the gardens and at night before you go to bed." She smiled broadly and captured his lips once more in a passionate lip lock. They broke away and the Gypsy Prince hopped off the balcony to the ground where he swiftly ran off into the night. Serena slowly put a hand to her lips which were still tingling from his touch and sighed happily. She was truly in love with that mysterious man. If only she were promised to him instead of that Earth Prince. What was she going to do? She certainly couldn't run off to be with the Gypsy Prince since all hell would break loose if their enemies found out that she and the Earth Prince haven't married as planned--making her planet and Earth an easy target for attack and destruction. She'd never forgive herself for putting her people under such danger because of her selfish needs. Part of her wanted to follow her heart and be with the man she loved while the other part wanted to follow her duty as a princess and marry the Earth Prince. Why does her decision have to be so hard? To be continued... *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Jessica: That's all kids! Stay tuned for the next chapter! See ya! ^_~ Lilly: Bye now! ^_^
